He later married and built a family that now spans multiple generations—a personal milestone he and his wife, Patty, hold dear.
Jim’s professional experiences are as diverse as they are remarkable. He was the original developer of National Harbor on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., a transformative real estate project. He served as a Catholic priest and later a bishop, officiating thousands of weddings and funerals. His dedication to public service included work with the War on Poverty initiative, traveling across the U.S. to support anti-poverty efforts. He was also the first president of the World Trade Center in Washington, D.C., and served as the first press secretary to then-Senator Joe Biden over 50 years ago. He delivered the primary address at the Pentagon’s one-year memorial service for 9/11.

He joined the seminary fairly young and stayed there for nine years, eventually deciding that was a life too lonely for him. So he left - having learned a lot - and got married to the love of his life. He and his wife, Patty, now have five children, thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild - which they consider quite an accomplishment. After gaining a wider assortment of experiences, he grew to understand the world and his purpose in it. He was a real estate developer of big, exciting projects, such as being the original developer of National Harbor on the Potomac River in Washington, DC. He is a Catholic priest and then became a bishop, now retired, who has officiated over 3,000 weddings and 1,000 funerals (he still does weddings and funerals). He worked for the War On Poverty and traveled the USA to assist in anti-poverty efforts. He was the first president of the World Trade Center Washington, DC; he was the first press secretary to Senator (now former President) Joe Biden when he first came to the U.S. Senate over 50 years ago; he gave the main address at the first anniversary of 9/11 at the Pentagon rememberance gathering … and lots more, too extensive to detail.

At the heart of my work is a belief in the presence of a greater, all-encompassing awareness—one that gives life, meaning, and love. I explore this idea through the lens of spiritual unity, reflecting on Jesus’s message that we are all intrinsically connected. While the path to this understanding requires reflection and effort, the rewards are profound. A shift in perspective can bring a deeper sense of peace, acceptance, and a renewed appreciation for the world and the people around us.

I have come to see everything (everything!) as an expression, an individuated manifestation, of that All-Loving Awareness or Loving Consciousness that gives us meaning, life, existence, and love - or, in other words, Divinity. I have come to realize Jesus's message that each of us is God. Jesus said, "The Father and I are one," and a little later on, "You are my brothers and sisters". So, as "children" of God, we too are God. Oh, just very tiny pieces of God, for sure, but holographic and magnificent pieces just the same. This fact, understood, will simply change your life. It was not a cake walk for me to get to this understanding - and it may not be all that easy for you either - you have to put some work into it! - but, believe me, it will definitely be worth it. And that road was not terribly difficult to navigate after all. Your world will unfold into an explosion of joy and perception. You will accept others, and all of life's circumstances, even more readily than you now do, because you will understand that we are all One. Life will be good!
